If you missed early Monday's big news, 'Calcio A' is no more: Serie A will be officially licensed in FIFA (and FUT) 19 once again.

The Italian top division, on the heels of one of its most anticipated seasons in recent memory, announced the news with EA as Gamescom 2018 officially got underway.

“We’re excited to announce the return of Serie A TIM in FIFA19, especially for the high potential of the next season for Italian football," Electronic Arts Italy General Manager Maurizio Finocchiaro said in a release. "This is a crucial step for Electronic Arts to ensure to all fans, both Italian and international ones, the highest level of authenticity for their game experience."

The move sees the return of the official logo, the sleeve badge on players’ kits, the official ball, and the Coppa di Campione d'Italia trophy and official branding back into all applicable FIFA 19 game modes.

While not the depth of the existing Premier League and recently announced La Liga expanded licensing -- including additional face scans beyond partner clubs and new stadium experiences in-game -- the move opens the door to those potentially coming to future versions of the title. FIFA 18 featured the generic catch-all league title of 'Calcio A' and while all individual clubs were licensed, that wasn't the case in the Italian second division.

The added license is welcome after it was previously announced the Russian Premier League had switched their licensing into an exclusive arrangement with Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer franchise. But even with that news, individual clubs are still welcome to enter into agreements with EA similar to how the Italian clubs did when their league and EA failed to come to terms.

Though it's unrealistic to expect every team in the Russian League to individually align with EA, some of the larger ones, particularly those in European competitions, have joined some of the other "Rest of World" clubs found in previous versions of the game in announcing their place in FIFA 19. Amongst them:

All teams unveiled so far are participants in either the 2018/19 Champions League or Europa League, which could help explain how priortizing them came about. On the flipside, longtime Russian League power FC Zenit Saint Petersburg have confirmed they will Not be in the title. The fifth place finishers in the RPL in 2017/18 are still alive in the Europa League Playoff rounds:

What do you think of the Serie A news, as well as the teams we've heard about confirmed for this year's title? Any league or club licenses you're still hoping we see yet before launch?
